History

The Regina Police Services Canine Unit started in 1962 with one dog.   Today we have 6 general purpose K-9 Teams.  These teams are assigned to each of the 4 shifts and have 20 hour coverage per day.

All dogs are trained in house.  Training consists of a 16 week course, which includes obedience, agility, area searches, article searches and apprehension training.

We presently have two drug profiled dogs in the section.
