Arts and Entertainment

This category focuses on the knowledge, skills and abilities related to arts and entertainment. Individuals in Arts & Entertainment have displayed extraordinary talent in the areas of film & drama, vocal or instrumental, dance, producer, director or any other artistic talent. Nominations in this category are not limited to the above areas.

Business

This category focuses on the knowledge, skills and abilities related to business. Nominees in this area may have a major influence in Band Administration, Tribal Councils or other First Nation Organizations. Nominations in this category are not limited to the above areas.

Community Work & Involvement

The major focus of this area is to acknowledge individuals who have spent time, effort and have used their skills and abilities for promoting and helping communities. This type of involvement can be either in a volunteer or salary position. Such areas as Justice and Charitable work would be appropriate focuses for nomination. Nominations within this category is not limited only to the suggested areas.

Education

Recognition of Educators and their contributions to either non-aboriginal or First Nations' people is the foundation of this award. This category is open to educators within early education, primary, middle years, high school, and post secondary educators.

Journalism

Nominations within this category include accomplishments in this area of journalism which can consist of written works, both published and unpublished materials. Individuals in this category may also be involved in the field of radio or television.

Medicine and Health

Community members who strongly support the Health and Wellness of First Nations people are the focus of this award. Individuals who address the current health issues by informing, practicing, and presenting health and wellness are the criteria for nomination.

Justice

Those nominated in this category have demonstrated professionalizm and a Leadership role in the area of Justice.this includes but is not limited to individuals who have chosen careers in the area of policing, Correctional Services, Parole and Probation Services, the Law Society of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Court System. This may also include endeavors in the area of restorative Justice. nominees have placed emphasis on making our Communities a safer place to live, and being a role model to First nation Youth in their particular Profession.

Life -time Achievement

This category focuses on individuals who have displayed and demostrated achievements in many areas of recognition. Individuals nominated for this award have driven for change and excellence towards the enrichment of our communities. Individuals nominated in this category are sometimes known as historians, who have a long story of accomplishments and have played aleading role in the development of our First nation communities. Individuals in this category have engraved path not only in our lives but also for the generations to come.

Science and Technology

This category was created to recognize significant advances made by First Nations' people in the scientific areas. Individuals could be involved in research, development, or design in emerging technologies.

Social Work

Individuals who have dedicated their time and effort in the field of social work are the focus for this award. Individuals dealing with different social issues involving: Child & foster care, abuse, parenting, welfare issues, senior citizens, counseling, etc. Individuals in this category have demonstrated commitment to the enrichment of the lives of First Nations' people.

Sports and Recreation

First Nations people who are athletic, or pursuing a career related to sports and recreation, are excellent candidates for this award. Guidance, leadership, sportsmanship & dedication are some of the skills displayed by the nominees in this category.

SaskPower Youth Award

The First Nation Youth Award is sponsored by SaskPower. This award will honor and acknowledge First Nation Youth accomplishments and achievements, it will award its recipient with a $3000.00 bursary to go towards an education facility if the recipients choice.

Veterans Award

This Awards is given to the veteran who volunteers at various functions such as Assemblies, Pow-wows and Grand Openings. the veteran who shows support and promotes the issues that veterans face today. This award will acknovledge the veteran's outstanding achievement in life.
